Earth

We commit, individually and communally, to recognizing how our decisions impact the Earth community; to raising our awareness and changing behaviors; to acting with urgency to protect Earth’s stability and integrity; and to celebrating her beauty wherever we are.

Maybe I am a flexitarian?

As I continue to contemplate the impact that my lifestyle is having on the planet, I think I have finally found something that will work for me. I am now eating as a vegetarian for breakfast, a vegan for most lunches, and trying to make choices at dinner for the health of the planet.

My Vegan Journey

I entered into this lifestyle to be healthier, but the more I learn about the effects of adopting a plant-based diet can have on the environment and other sentient beings, the more committed I become.

Eco-Challenge: Use your plate to help the planet

This Earth Month, join us in reflecting on the food choices that we make and their impact on the planet. We’ll be sharing reflections and calls to action from some of our sisters, associates and friends that we hope will inspire you to explore if there are any food choices you wish to make differently.

Celebrate the Season of Creation with us!

Catholics around the world recognize the Season of Creation from September 1, the World Day of Prayer for Creation, through October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. As Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, we have made a commitment to respond to the crisis of Earth.

About us

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet are a congregation of Catholic sisters. We, and those who share our charism and mission, are motivated in all things by our profound love of God and our dear neighbors. We seek to build communities and bridge divides between people. Since our first sisters gathered in 1650, our members have been called to “do all things of which women are capable.” The first sisters of our congregation arrived in St. Louis, Missouri in 1836, and we now have additional locations in St. Paul, Albany, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Japan and Peru. Today, we commit to respond boldly to injustice and dare to be prophetic.
