Ann Hammer
Ann Hammer is the Congregational Justice Ministry Director for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, collaboratively works with and engages sisters, associates, agrégées and partners in mission to respond to contemporary justice challenges and foster the common good for the dear neighbor without distinction. Ann has more than 25 years of experience in ministry and formation, including serving as the Director of Social Outreach for the Western Vicariate of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Before that, she taught scripture, Catholic Social Teaching and women’s and gender studies at St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis, where she also became an associate in 2021.

As we continue our Advent journey, the third Advent candle represents joy, and is known as the shepherd’s candle. As we hear of the shepherds’ joy at the birth of Jesus, let us recall that Jesus first revealed himself to the poor, the overlooked and the oppressed.
