Anna Mary Meyer, CSJ

Sister Anna Mary Meyer, CSJ entered into eternal life on April 26, 2024 at St. John of God Care Center in Los Angeles.

Anna Mary was born into a military family in Quantico, Virginia, on July 3, 1936. She developed a variety of interests and talents including being a cowgirl, singing and playing and teaching several woodwind instruments. She became a Catholic when she was 26 years old. Soon after, her mother followed her, and Anna Mary became her own mother’s godmother.

Sister Anna Mary was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 51 years. Her ministries included serving as a pastoral minister at Daniel Freeman Marina for 18 years. She once wrote, “My life as a cowgirl, musician, teacher, pastoral and personal counselor has taken me down many paths and roads. They were all guided by the Good Lord.”

After retiring at age 75, Sister Anna Mary continued to volunteer in pastoral care at Providence Tarzana Hospital, and she was a generous and capable driver for the Sisters at Carondelet Center.

May she rest in peace.

About us

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet are a congregation of Catholic sisters. We, and those who share our charism and mission, are motivated in all things by our profound love of God and our dear neighbors. We seek to build communities and bridge divides between people. Since our first sisters gathered in 1650, our members have been called to “do all things of which women are capable.” The first sisters of our congregation arrived in St. Louis, Missouri in 1836, and we now have additional locations in St. Paul, Albany, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Japan and Peru. Today, we commit to respond boldly to injustice and dare to be prophetic.
