Remembering Sister Teresa Ann Coronas, CSJ

Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet

March 28, 1932 – March 22, 2026

Teresa Ann Coronas, CSJ

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Teresa Ann Coronas, who peacefully entered into eternal life on March 22, 2026, at St. John of God Care Center in Los Angeles.

Remivia Encarnacion Coronas was born in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawai`i on March 28, 1932. She lived with her many siblings on a sugar plantation. She loved solitude from her earliest days and remembered the comfortable feeling of sitting on the beach alone—yet not alone. It was the beginning of her sense of God, which grew and developed over the years.

She entered the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1950. She received the habit and name Sister Teresa Ann. Through the years, she was fondly called T.A. She celebrated her 75th jubilee this year.

T.A taught for 21 years in northern and southern California. She was also a writer for the Catholic Voice in Oakland, California; Pacific News Service; and the Hawaii Catholic Herald.

She had a playful, joyful nature and brought laughter and music into any gathering; She had a tremendous gift for making others happy. She believed, “That person is a success who has received God’s love and returned it!”

Funeral services for Sister Teresa Ann will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Chapel at Carondelet Center, 11999 Chalon Rd. in Los Angeles. Watch via livestream.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Los Angeles Province, 11999 Chalon Road, Los Angeles, CA 90049 or donate online.

May she rest in peace.

About us

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet are a congregation of Catholic sisters. We, and those who share our charism and mission, are motivated in all things by our profound love of God and our dear neighbors. We seek to build communities and bridge divides between people. Since our first sisters gathered in 1650, our members have been called to “do all things of which women are capable.” The first sisters of our congregation arrived in St. Louis, Missouri in 1836, and we now have additional locations in St. Paul, Albany, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Japan and Peru. Today, we commit to respond boldly to injustice and dare to be prophetic.
