June 5, 1936 – January 25, 2026

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Kathleen Lang, who died peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2026 at St. John of God Care Center in Los Angeles.
Sister Kathy, a graduate of Star of the Sea Academy in San Francisco, was among the first group of postulants to enter the newly constructed House of Studies in 1955. Being a San Franciscan was an important piece of her identity.
Kathy’s years of ministry were dedicated to teaching and administration. During her 26 years as principal and president at Carondelet High School, improvements were made on all levels. Innovation and collaboration were her hallmarks and fundraising became an art; the school flourished. Her cool demeanor always projected competency and dedication.
Her spirit of hospitality and welcoming smile was evident to all who encountered her. We celebrate her life, her gifts and talents which were generously shared and genuinely cherished by all who knew and loved her. May our God give her a resounding welcome home!
Service arrangements will be shared when they are available.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Los Angeles Province, 11999 Chalon Road, Los Angeles, CA 90049 or donate online.
Sister Kathy was not only my principal, but also a friend. Her spirit and welcoming smile warmed the halls of Carondelet. She was loved by her students and she will be greatly missed.
Sister Kathy was a mentor for me when I taught at Carondelet and had been a dear friend ever since! She walked with me through all of my life journeys and continued to call me every year—while she could—at Christmas time after she moved to LA. I’m grateful that she passed into God’s hands peacefully. I know I have an angel in her now. May you rest in peace, dear, sweet, Sister Kathy!
