Choir Monday
Our children’s choir meets every Monday afternoon after school. After their singing rehearsal, they enjoy coloring with the crayons that were donated to us for the mission. They are now preparing Christmas carols.
Visit to Tate
In May, three partnership communities, along with Sister Mary McGlone, CSJ, visited the mission where our sisters served in Tate (Ica, Perú). We were able to visit the house where our sisters lived for many years.
Our sisters Gloria Zapata, CSJ, Zaida Perez, CSJ and Mary McGlone, CSJ guided us through the places where they, along with Sisters Patricia McHale, CSJ, Marie Schuh, CSJ, Ida Robertine, CSJ, Sally Harper, CSJ, Ines Telles, CSJ and Maria Rubina, CSJ, once walked and shared in the life of the town. We cherished the memories of the places we visited. Thank you to all the sisters for sharing with us their years of mission work in this Peruvian town!
A Walk Through the Neighborhood
In the pleasant company of Sister Betty (Elizabeth Conrad, CSJ), we took a walk through the streets of Jesús María. Betty was very impressed by the architecture of the buildings in this area and how some streets have been improved to accommodate wheelchairs. We had lunch at a nearby café.
Also, on some weekends, we enjoy a special time visiting our sisters at the “Central House,” sharing conversations and playing games.
Celebrating Independence Day
In July, we celebrated another anniversary of our beloved Perú: 205 years of national independence. The entire educational community at Fe y Alegría 59 participated in a variety of activities, such as recitations and art exhibitions. We concluded the day with a school parade in honor of Independence Day.
