As the largest nonprofit health system in the United States and the world’s largest Catholic health system, Ascension is committed to delivering person-centered care to all with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Ascension was formed in 2012 when the congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and four other religious congregations came together to make a healthcare organization that is better positioned to meet the evolving needs of the people and communities we serve in the rapidly changing healthcare environment. Today, they continue an 800-year legacy and promise set forth by us and the other original sponsor organizations to provide faith-based healthcare to those in need.
The Global Health Partnership Initiative collaborates with in-country leaders and like-minded organizations to create and sustain lasting health infrastructure in order to achieve measurable, sustainable health improvement for the most neglected persons in our world. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet is a founding partner of this initiative, along with Ascension Health Global Mission, the St. Louise Province of the Daughters of Charity and the Congregation of St. Joseph.
