Prayer for a Change in Consciousness
We are all called to be contemplatives in action. Our individual lives, our communities and our era in time continue to strain toward or yearn for grounding in the Divine that guides us in action.
Sister Cathy Steffens was received into the congregation in 1965 and is a member of our St. Paul Province. She has spent most of her career teaching, from children in parish schools in Minnesota and North Dakota to St. Catherine University while working in Campus Ministry. An avid traveler, she has been all over the world with students and friends. Sister Cathy has also served as vocation and candidate director for the St. Paul Province and as a spiritual director in the area. She now resides at Carondelet Village visiting, walking, singing, reading, writing, speaking, cooking and creating art.
We are all called to be contemplatives in action. Our individual lives, our communities and our era in time continue to strain toward or yearn for grounding in the Divine that guides us in action.
The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet are a congregation of Catholic sisters. We, and those who share our charism and mission, are motivated in all things by our profound love of God and our dear neighbors. We seek to build communities and bridge divides between people. Since our first sisters gathered in 1650, our members have been called to “do all things of which women are capable.” The first sisters of our congregation arrived in St. Louis, Missouri in 1836, and we now have additional locations in St. Paul, Albany, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Japan and Peru. Today, we commit to respond boldly to injustice and dare to be prophetic.
