The U.S. election is now behind us, and we find ourselves at an important moment for reflection and recommitment to our values. The United States feels deeply divided by differing perspectives and political ideologies. This means that the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph to be agents of unifying love is more necessary than ever. We are committed to bridge divides and foster understanding, moving forward with hearts open to the needs of all.
Let us come together in prayer, asking the Spirit to reveal concrete and meaningful ways for us to live out our mission in the coming years. Going forward, we will be steadfast in our commitment to social justice. We will continue to educate, advocate and take action to respond to the crisis of Earth and global warming and to deepen awareness of our complicity with injustice. We will continue work toward dismantling every form of prejudice and oppression we encounter. We will respond boldly in the face of injustice. May we discern paths that allow us to bring healing and hope and follow them unflinchingly, recognizing the profound role each of us plays in creating a more compassionate, just world.
With open hearts, let us commit to taking at least one specific action in the coming days that reflects our mission of unity and love. Whether it be a gesture of kindness, an act of service, or an opportunity to listen deeply to others, may this commitment be a step toward building a stronger, more inclusive community. Together, let us embody the inclusive love that is core to our mission. May we be signs of the justice and peace we hope to see in the world.
Yes…AND.
I need time to grieve, to acknowledge the fear and pain for so many who are on the margins.
I need to make peace with the reality that the American people have chosen a convicted felon, rapist, etc to serve as our president.
I need to forgive myself and be forgiven for my arrogance in believing that most people in this country want what I want.
I need time to rest. And then, boots back on.
Back to the streets for justice, kindness and unity for all our dear neighbors.
I am grateful that the results of our election favor saving lives, protecting women, and honoring service members. I am thankful that so many voted for policies that would help America return to truly loving its neighbor by returning to truth.
Thanks be to God for such an astounding victory. I am eager to help serve those in need through true love that encompasses truth and legality. I am also grateful to promote Catholic values honoring tradition and Biblical principles that strive to serve in truth, not fantasy, perversion, or any other form of degradation of our faith.
Thanks be to God for more opportunities to unite versus divide.
