The Sisters of the Hawaii Vice-Province held their annual Forum on May 9-10, 2015 at Chaminade-St. Louis Campus in Honolulu, Hawaii. This was the final Forum with the outgoing Leadership Team of Sisters Claudia Wong, Eva Mesina and Mary Dugar. As a sign of strengthening the bonds between the Hawaii Vice-Province and the Los Angeles Province, Sisters Adele O’Sullivan and Margaret O’Rourke of the Los Angeles Province were present for the meeting. Later this summer, Hawaii’s incoming Leadership Team of Sisters Brenda Lau, Patty Chang and Sara Sanders have been invited to attend the the Los Angeles Province Assembly in July.
On Saturday afternoon, the Hawaiian sisters held a Memorial Service and Liturgy for S. Jeanne Anne Collis of the Albany Province, who died this past March. Missioned in Hawaii for almost half of her religious life, she left a legacy of our CSJ Charism through her work in the Catholic School Department, by establishing our first Deaconate Program, as the only Vicar for Religious for our diocese and in many other ventures that supported the people of Hawaii. Rev. Gary Secor, Vicar General of the Diocese of Honolulu, presided and remembered S. Jeanne Anne from his days at our St. Anthony’s School in Kailua.
On Sunday afternoon following the close of the Forum, a group of sisters enjoyed dinner together at a restaurant that overlooked the ocean waterways for fun and sharing.
